Unclear or faint engraving patterns are one of the most common issues when using the Ray5 MiniS. This problem is usually related to focus accuracy, software settings, parameter mismatch, or lens contamination rather than hardware failure.
This guide walks you through a structured troubleshooting process to help restore clear and high-quality engraving results.
1) First make sure the focus is correct.
Use the focus block to adjust the focal length.
2) Check if the S value in Lightburn
That is, click Lightburn-Edit-Device Setting and check whether the S-value MAX is 1000.
3) Check the parameters
Check whether the engraving parameters are correct, especially the speed unit; please refer to the parametertableon the official website. And for the LaserGRBL software, the value of S-MAX is 10 times the target laser power, such as when the laser power is 100%, S-MAX needs to be set to 1000%
4) Turn on the constant power
When editing parameters, make sure the laser mode is set to constant power mode, as shown in the figure.
5) Check the window mirror
Check whether the window mirror of the laser headunit is contaminated. If there is contamination, it is recommended to use lens cleaning paper or a dust-free cloth soaked in alcohol to wipe gently to avoid damaging the coating.
Conclusion
Unclear engraving is typically caused by setup or parameter issues rather than hardware defects. By carefully checking focus, software settings, engraving parameters, and lens cleanliness, you can quickly restore sharp and detailed engraving results.
Maintaining proper configuration and routine maintenance will ensure consistent performance and high-quality output from your Ray5 MiniS.

Item was larger than expected but in good order. Arrived on time and package was undamaged. Build is still pending, will comment further when completed
Good morning, I'm happy with my choice of the RAY5 5W engraver, which is excellent for my needs, but I'm frustrated and disappointed with the technical support. I can't figure out what's going on. 14 days after the engraver arrived, I still can't turn it on. They told me that during this New Year's Eve period, everything shuts down. Today, February 24th, I hope you can help me resolve my issue. I hope to hear from you soon.
